Review of "A Job From Hell"

A Job From Hell is a fast paced, intriguing, paranormal thriller complete with richly-developed conflict, a fantastic plot, romance, mystery, humor, and amazing characters, loaded with exciting twists and turns at every angle. This author drew me into a completely different world of legend and myth, and I was completely fascinated and totally connected to every character, but especially Amber, a very likable, independent, and down to earth heroine. She never thought taking a summer temp position as a housekeeper would be dangerous, but when she is thrust into Aiden's dangerous and secretive world, winning the coveted Prize, life will never be the same.

The taxi driver is beyond rattled when he has to drop off Amber in an isolated area at a beautiful and mysterious mansion in Scottland. He says the place is cursed. She needs the money, so she ignores his warning. Amber doesn't believe in stupid myths.

Her first day begins and she finds the house spotless. So she occupies herself by reading books in the library and snooping a little which leads to question after question. When she learns she has to cook, she is mortified. And when she makes her first meal for the hunky new boss, he turns up his nose at her dish. She wonders if it's more than just her bad cooking. Less than a week into her new job, her brother Dallas stops by with a hair-brained idea of stealing a stash of jewels hidden in the woods. They'll be rich beyond belief and all of their problems will melt away. Little does she know that touching those jewels will be the beginning of ALL of her problems. Amber throws the stones into her backpack when she realizes she is being stalked. She is chased and runs for her life. Her destiny has been set because she's won first place in a paranormal race that happens every five hundred years. The Prize isn't a trophy, but a gift she'd rather not have--a gift immortals would kill for: the power to travel to the otherworld and talk to the dead. And now Amber has a target on her back, and being human makes her easy prey. Immortals will hunt her down for the rest of her life. She'll never be safe no matter where she goes.

But Aiden, her sexy boss, has a plan to save her life. But she must enter his dangerous world and sometimes, things aren't what they seem. Getting to know him, his brother, and his friends only raises more questions. She doesn't know who to trust or what to do. Her mind screams she should run for the nearest exit, but her heart holds her hostage. Aiden and she are bonded mates. She has awaited him unknowingly her entire life. Amber can't explain it, but she feels the bond strongly. Aiden and Amber start to explore their feelings for one another. But is he just after her gift, too, like every other Immortal out there. Is his love a lie? Is she a pawn in his game? She has the gift he'd kill for--literally. To make matters worse, a beautiful, insane demi-goddess is in love with Aiden, and when she finds out Aiden has found his true mate, she adds to the mayhem by trying to kill Amber.

Aiden is thrown into an immortal dungeon to be tortured for centuries. Amber strikes a deal with Aiden's enemy behind his back--a deal Aiden would never approve of--to save his life and rescue him. A deal written in blood, that she will honor, taking her away from Aiden and everyone she loves forever.

When she learns how dangerous Aiden really is, she questions his motives. Time is running out. The Immortals are closing in on her. There is nowhere to turn. Nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. Amber will NEVER be safe again...unless she risks her own life...and does something drastic....

I enjoyed this book immensely and the fantastic storyline will keep you guessing until the very end. The surprise ending came together in such an exciting way, you're cheering and rooting for the heroes. On the last page you're going to blink...and say....no way! This book can be enjoyed by young adults, as well as adults. Suspenseful, humorous, romantic, and above all, beautifully written and wonderfully told. This book did not disappoint and promises to be a paranormal favorite! I eagerly await the next book in this series!!!!!!
